Model European Union 2011 took place in March 2011 in Strasbourg, France. Once again over 200 participants and organisers gathered in the rooms of the European Parliament to simulate the ordinary legislative procedure.

Over 90% of MEU 2011 participants stated that MEU improved their understanding of the EU decision-making process

 Exemplary the
- Directive on the Application of Patients' Rights in Cross-Border Healthcare and the
- Directive on the Working Conditions for Temporary Workers
were discussed.

From over 1.000 applications, we welcomed 180 exceptional individuals from various countries and diverse backgrounds.

The 2011 edition of the conference included a fantastic Eurofeast with culinary specialties from the participants’ various cultures. This was a wonderful addition to the social programme including city boat tour and pub night.

A charity gala was also part of the social programme, where participants explored the importance of social events for politicians. The attendants gathered 900 € to support The Kings Village Ghana in providing water, sanitation, access to education and healthcare to the people in the North of Ghana.

Out of the MEU 2011 participants, 85% want the relais intepreting
to be expanded

The interpreters offered some Mother Tongue sessions this year, where delegates could choose any of the present intepreting languages for their debate contributions. It was positively surprising that the feedback on these sessions was extremely good and thus we held more debates than originally planned in this fashion.

For the first time, participants had the chance to present their projects and to inform themselves about other events and projects at a Fair of Opportunities.

For over than 70% of MEU 2011 participants, MEU raised their motivation to get active in Europe-related voluntary work on the European level

Model European Union 2011 was once more able to increase the quality and professionalism of the yearly event. Furthermore the participants' feedback was outstanding, which proves how valuable such projects are for the European society. Over 90% of MEU 2011 participants rated the conference as a success
