Model European Union 2010 took place in Strasbourg from 10th to 17th April 2010. MEU 2010 has been the most innovative edition of MEU yet, gathering the remarkable number of 180 young people from almost all the 27 Member States. For the very first time in the MEU history, participants not only had the chance to perform the roles of MEPs, Ministers, Lobbyists and Journalists during the simulation, but the team of Journalists was accompanied by professional cameramen filming the simulation and for the first time ever we were able to include the role of Interpreters; helping to make the atmosphere of the simulation even more realistic. During MEU 2010 a Partners‘ Fair was organised on the last day of the event, giving participants the chance to get to know more about the work and the vision of those organizations who have supported us in 2010, for example Europe and Me and ELSA. |

The proposals discussed during the simulation were: - The “Directive on Common Standards and Procedures in Member States for Returning Illegally Staying Third-Country Nationals” - The “Regulation on Genetically Modified Food and Feed” In addition to the changes in the roles of the participants, we also had changes to the Social Programme. The biggest one of those was the introduction of a Charity Gala. There, our participants could learn that the work of a politician, journalist or lobbyist does not end upon leaving the EP premises, but extends even to social events. |
