Model European Union 2008 took place in Strasbourg 25th -31st May 2008. This simulation gathered 100 young people representing 25 countries.
The participants, having been assigned a role as either a member of European Parliament or a Minister of the Council , worked on two proposals:
- "Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on compulsory licensing of patents relating to the manufacture of pharmaceutical products for export to countries with public health problems" and
- "Proposal for a directive of the European Parliament and the Council on the approximation of the laws, regulations and administrative provisions of the Member States relating to the advertising and sponsorship of alcoholic products".
Furthermore, participants participated in a debate entitled "Do we need a Common European Foreign policy?" and workshops presenting the JEF, AEGEE and Youth in Action programmes.
