What is MEU Mainz (MEUM)? One of last year’s participants put it in a nutshell: “international atmosphere, acquiring knowledge, skills and friendships, visiting and experiencing a beautiful state – Germany”. It is a project which simulates the European decision-making process between the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union and makes 80 young people from all over the world slip into the roles of Members of Parliament, Ministers of the Council and Journalists in a 5-day event in the city of Mainz, Germany from the 6th-10th of June 2012.
It was first established in 2010 on the premises of the Johannes Gutenberg-University and it is organised by three partners: BETA, AEGEE andthe Department of Political Science at Mainz University.
MEUM is a spin-off of MEU Strasbourg, the large-scale EU simulation annually organised by the Bringing Europeans Together Association (BETA). Besides the simulation which features “the general atmosphere of professionalism on the one hand and relaxed informal parts on the other hand”- as a former participant put it- we offer a wide social programme including a wine tasting of local wines, a pub crawl and a European night.
In order to apply you will have to write an essay on one EU-related topic- further information as well as the application form can be found on our website www.meumainz.eu. Beware, the application period ends on the 9th of April!
Looking forward to your application,
Your MEUM 2012-Team
