In April 2013, Model European Union will be taking place for the seventh time. Over the years, it has become a significant cornerstone in the youth involvement in Europe.

Model European Union is a week long simulation, drawing from all aspects of European politics and giving students a valuable first-hand experience within the roles that reflect the daily decision-making of the European Union. Whether as an MEP, Minister of the Council, Lobbyist, Interpreter or Journalist, participants have the opportunity to experience two simultaneous legislative debates at the „Council“ and „European Parliament“. This is a learning experience and you will be provided with every opportunity to gain the most of your participation. For example, we will be holding online seminars and a workshops day on the rules of procedure, debating and interpreting prior to the conference to fully prepare you for the week in Strasbourg.

Not only is this giving you a first-class understanding of political cooperation in the European Union but we also draw from the multicultural aspect of the Community. Our wide-ranging social programme is set to enhance participants‘ understanding of values that member states hold core to their personal identity and how these differences play out to be more similarities than appear on the outside. There is the Eurofeast with food and beverages from all over Europe, which is the initial evening of the conference to build aqcuintances and life-long friendships. Moreover, our charity fundraiser gives ladies the chance to put on their party frocks and gents to pull on their Sunday best while supporting a good cause. Finally, no trip to Strasbourg would be the same without the magical boat tour which brings you down to the heart of the city, offering another perspective on the vistas of Strasbourg. In short, Strasbourg is a hidden jewel of  Europe and with MEU 2013 you have the opportunity indulge in everything it has to offer.

Nevertheless, we recognise that students‘ money is not in excess and as a result all of our accounts have been done to limit your expenditure. The participation fee of 150 Euros covers your accommodation in a hostel, meals three times a day, social programme and local transport for the entire duration of the event. You may even get support towards your travel costs via our Social Fund support scheme.

Come and challenge your drive and knowledge with a host of other enthusiastic future European leaders. We look forward to meeting you in Strasbourg!
